English-born Annie Bird arrived in Australia in 1913 from England where she had already been working as a photographer. When Annie settled in the Queensland town of Kingaroy she resumed her work as a photographer. After a fire in 1921 destroyed her studio she headed to Canada with the intention of settling in Washington DC, USA. Annie Bird attained her goal working as a photographer in Washington until she died there in 1948.
