Cora Willets was the daughter of one of Ballarat’s favourite photographic families – the Willets. She grew up learning the profession working in their studio. Around 1909, after the death of her father, Cora, and her husband Leonard Fraser, also a photographer, took over her family’s Ballarat studio, renaming it Fraser’s Studio. In 1913 her husband died and Cora Fraser, now a “femme sole”, took on the studio in her own right.
