The Amateur Photographer’s Commandments

For ages you’ll be floundering
In disconcerting beginnings,
No doubt you’ll work it
Often clumsily,
Your mates you’ll photograph
And your lady friends, too,
A lot of money will be spent
Without satisfactory results,
A dark room you’ll build
In a corner of the apartment,
There, when you develop
You’ll be disappointed often.
On your plate nothing will appear
Almost nothing half the time
