Nellie Thorneywork was working at the Institute of Anatomy during its construction phase. The photographs below were taken on glass plate negatives and retouching was done by hand directly onto it’s surface. This indicates that Thorneywork was an expert in the process which required a steady hand and an eye for detail. NB the marks on the photograph are from the developing process.
